- Who We Are -

ABOUT LCH

LCH Charity was originally founded in 1898. Over recent years we have diversified our provision to ensure we are meeting the needs of  disadvantaged children across the East Midlands. We run 7 programmes that aim to make a difference to a young persons life and to bridge the gap between those that have and those that haven’t.

Holidays and short breaks are a key part of our provision. Known as the Mablethorpe charity for many years which is close to the hearts of thousands in our community. We recognise this affection and named our starfish mascot Mable as a nod to this part of our history.

The here, now and future of LCH is supporting children who are facing disadvantaged lives, our support is mostly driven by poverty but also we help children who have suffered family bereavement, are
living in a chaotic home, are a child refugee, or may have additional needs.

All children are nominated to us from our school partners. This approach enables us to reach those children most in need. Are you interested in becoming a school partner? Get in touch and join us.

We support nominated children through 7 programmes, we run day trips and short breaks throughout the year, which are completely free and full of fun, food and joy – just what they need. We provide financial support to families to enable children to attend their school trips. Our Rested Minds project gives vital mental health support to children who have faced traumatic experiences, our Broadening Horizons programme gives every child a chance to participate in an activity that they have an interest, love or talent for. This is so important for their development and happiness. Bridging the Gap is all about providing essentials to children, PJ’s, winter coats and filled pencil cases. Family Matters is all about the importance of family time and creating stronger family bonds – our Flourish Festival is a massive part of this and finally our school uniform recycling programme helps alleviate the cost burden for families.

It is through our school partnership that we are able to understand the needs of local children and put projects and programmes in place that help transform their lives.
